Mazar-e-Sharif (BNA)  A spokesman for the Taliban's political office in Qatar tweeted that the Taliban had released 16 soldiers in Balkh.
He claims that with the release of these prisoners, the number of prisoners released by the Taliban will reach 800.
But the figures have not been officially confirmed by government officials.
The government is said to have released 4,400 Taliban prisoners from the country's prisons so far.
Release of 5,000 Taliban prisoners and 1,000 military prisoners from government and Taliban prisons is a precondition for talks between Afghans.
