Iran Hangs Six Afghan Over Drugs Smuggling Charges

Kabul (BNA) Iran has executed at least six Afghans over drugs smuggle charges, local authorities in northeastern Takhar province of Afghanistan said.
Provincial governor spokesman, Sunatullah Temori confirmed that six Afghan nationals were executed in Iran.
Mr. Temori further added that the families of deceased individuals have confirmed that the Iranian authorities have informed them regarding the execution of their relatives.
He said the dead bodies of the executed individuals have not been taken to Afghanistan so far and they will likely be buried in Iran.
According to Temori, further executions are expected as Iranian authorities are reviewing the cases of several Afghans detained in Iran.
The executed individuals were between 20 to 26 year old and four of them were residents of Kalafgan district while the identities of the two others are still unclear, local officials said.
The Iranian officials have not commented regarding the report so far.
