More Than 200 Rebels Killed in the North of the Country

Kabul (BNA) At least 200 armed insurgents were killed during Afghan public order mopping-up operations conducted in the north of the country.
Gen. Hassibullah Qurishi 6th battalion commander of Public order in the north told BNA, the operations were launched in Balkh, Jawzjan, Baghlan, Kunduz and Sar-e-Pul provinces, as a result more than 200 rebels were killed, tens of them were wounded and more than 30 others were detained.
He added, some heavy and light weapons and 20 motorcycles were seized during the operations.
He further added, in the north we have preparations to repulse Taliban’s attacks and we are equipped with modern weapons.
We don’t have any problem here but we ask the people to cooperate with Afghan security forces, the source concluded.
