Kabul (BNA) Chaired by President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the meeting of the National Procurements Commission (NPC) approved 13 contracts worth some 2.5 billion Afghanis, the presidential press office said in a statement Sunday.
The approved contracts included 220 kilovolt substation and 20 kilovolt network of Salang Tunnel, construction of 2-phase road between Ahmadkhil and Qasemkhil of Paktia province with the length of 33 kilometers, amendment in the price of Jabal Saraj-Mahmoud Raqi road project, amendment in the extension of security of contracts of International Hamid Karzai Airport and airports of Kandahar, Herat and Mazar-e-Sharif, a list of 34 types of vehicles spare-parts related to the central workshop of the National Army, and some other projects related to the ministry of interior and other entities, as well as extension of memorandum of understanding on government scholarship of the students in India, the statement said.
The NPC rejected the offer presented by the ministry of education on the nullification of contract of 2.9 million text-books for the new curriculum of the ministry’s teacher training section and tasked it to continue the contracts, but the process of the book procurements should take place by the internal Printing Presses of the country, according to the statement.
Presented newly by the ministry of public works, for urgency of the issue, the contract related to Aqina Port’s road and railway facilities was conditionally approved by the commission the statement added quoting the president as instructing the ministry of public works for immediately taking step in reforms in its procurements’ section.
