President Ghani Meets U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Mark Milley, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Presidential Palace, late on Wednesday.

In this meeting First-Vice President Amrullah Saleh, NSA Hamdullah Mohib, Chief of Army Staff Mohammad Yasin Zia, AOP Director General Fazel Fazly, chargé d’affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, General Commander of the Resolute Support Mission General Scott Miller were present.

In the meeting, both sides expressed their concerns over the escalation of violence in Afghanistan and discussed the Afghan peace process and the immediate need for a ceasefire in the country.

General Milley assured the President that the United States will continue to support the Afghan Defense and Security forces.
