Kabul (BNA) The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, in a series of security meetings in the past two days, met with the commanders of the 209 Shaheen and 217 Pamir corps, as well as the director general of the Ministry of Interior for Investigation of Crimes and commander of the special forces via videoconference yesterday, a statement said. In these meetings, which were also attended by Dr. Hamdullah Mohib, National Security Adviser, the President first listened to the reports of the general security situation in the areas related to the corps.
The president stressed the need to pay more attention to the supplies and equipment of the security and defense forces, and said that border security, especially in the ports of Hairatan and Aqina, which are of special economic importance, was vital, according to presidential press office statement. President Ghani said more attention should be paid to local government, public affairs and security in Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul and Kuhistanat and other commercial ports.
The President of the country stated that the operations carried out by the security and defense forces should be taken into account in maintaining the occupied territories, as well as the security of Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz and Baghlan, and that more efforts should be made in the fight against drugs and trafficking. At the meeting, the President spoke with the Director General of the Ministry of Interior for Investigation of Crimes and the Commander of Special Forces on combating crime, drugs and irresponsible armed groups. President Ghani stressed that the people should be satisfied with the functions of the police, especially in Kabul, and work closely with the people and build more trust.
The president thanked the commander of the Special Forces for their recent operations and asked him to step up his operational plans at the Kabul and provincial levels. President Ghani emphasized on improving the works, paying attention to the facilities, treating the injured in a timely manner and creating more training centers for them, and thanked the General Command of the Special Forces for controlling Tuesday’s terrorist attack in Kabul and preventing further casualties. In the video conferences, President Ghani called on participants to fight the coronavirus in the country.
