President Karzai’s Order On Reviewing Presence of Foreign Military Prison In Kandahar Airport

Sunday, April 20, 2014 Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan presidential office has issued a verdict on appointment of a high-ranking fact-finding panel for reviewing of presence of a foreign military prison in Kandahar airport. Based on preliminary information related to detaining of a number of Afghan citizens by foreign military forces and presence of the forces’ prison in Kandahar, a high-ranking fact-finding panel has been appointed in combination of Abdul Karim Qanit, head and member of a committee for acceleration the addressing process of Bagram prisoners’ cases Abdul Shakoor Dadras, expert in national security sector and security of general directorate of administrative affairs and secretariat of council of ministers Brigadier General Anwar Shah and MoD military police commander Major General Ghulam Farooq Barakzai. Based on the verdict of presidential office, the panel is tasked to overall review presence of the prison and prisoners detained by foreign military forces and imprisoned in the prison in Kandahar airport, take legal and necessary steps related to transition and addressing to fate of the detained prisoners and closing the prison and urgently report back about performed executions to presidential office.
