The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan takes note of the United Nations Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict.
The report finds that Taliban's roadside IEDs, suicide attacks, ground fighting, and use of civilian locations to hide during battle remain the key drivers of casualties inflicted on Afghan children.
On the contrary, findings of the report indicate that measures put in place by the Afghan Government have resulted in a notable decrease in child casualties compared to the previous year.
We are committed to strengthening the implementation of the existing mechanisms in order to further mitigate harm to children and civilians.
Our longstanding position is that in order to protect civilians and advance the cause of peace, the Taliban as the driver of conflict must stop their unjustifiable campaign of terror tentamount to war crimes against the Afghan and Muslim nation.
