Taliban Failed Plan to Attack Checkpoints in Helmand; Twenty-Eight Attackers Killed

Kabul (BNA) The Taliban’s plan to attack several military checkpoints in Helmand failed.

Twenty-eight assailants who were planning to attack the checkpoints in Nawa, Nad Ali and Washir districts before reaching the target, were killed by security forces.

Senior Taliban commanders include those killed.

Twenty-eight Taliban insurgents were killed in the airstrikes, the Atal Corps in the south of the country said in a news release.

The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
