Kandahar (BNA) Twenty-nine Taliban insurgents were killed in the latest fighting in Kandahar.
The clashes took place last night until this morning in Panjwai, Zheri Arghandab and Maiwand districts.
Kandahar police chief Gen. Tadin Khan told BNA that 29 insurgents, including five Pakistani Taliban fighters, had been killed in the fighting.
He said the fighting followed Taliban attacks on military bases and convoys.
At the end of the clash, several weapons and motorcycles of the attackers fell into the hands of the security forces.
The Taliban have not yet said anything about this.
According to another report, the security forces prevented a series of explosions on busy roads by detecting and defusing sixteen bombs and mines in Kandahar.
No one has been arrested in connection with the bombings.
