Kandahar (BNA) Twenty-eight Taliban insurgents were killed in the latest fighting in Kandahar and ten others were wounded.
The clashes took place last night following a Taliban attack on military bases and convoys in Dand, Zheri, Panjwai and Shah Wali Kot districts.
Twenty-eight armed Taliban, including six local commanders of the group, were killed in the fighting, the Atal Corps in the south of the country said in a news release.
The corps says the airstrikes targeted the attackers with the support of the ground forces during the Taliban offensive.
According to another report, the security forces discovered and neutralized fourteen mines and prevented a series of explosions in the busiest places of Kandahar.
No one has been arrested in connection with the bombings.
